Just got charged e280 for a service. Was I ripped off? Its the first time I had this van serviced and I was astonised at the price. No special work needed. change of filters etc.

Any advise on what I can do if I was over charged? I thought a normal service was approx 150?

Did you get a quote beforehand?

This thread is a bit meaningless without knowning what exactly you were charged for, parts cost, labour rate, etc and was it a main dealer or independant garage who did the work.

Made the mistake of not getting a quote to be honest. the bill broke down to labour e165, parts e115. its wasnt a main garage.

And what were the parts involved?

€165 is pretty steep labour for a service from a non main dealer. Works out at almost 3 hours at the average rate of €50 per hour ex VAT. Hard to see how you could spend 3 hours servicing an Astra...

I dont have the bill in front of me but labour was e165 so Im guessing the rest is parts...from memory the parts were standard things like filers (oil & air), 1 bulb, oil etc. Ill check it and write it here.

I got my Colt serviced for e100 last year. I was just shocked at the price as there wasnt anything done other than the normal service things done on it.
