Citroen C3 suspension & brake light questions

Wifes car is a 2003 Citroen C3 which she has owned from new.
It failed NCT this week, reasons were brake light over back window not working and both rear suspension bump stops missing from rear suspension.

Rang a mechanic and he said he thinks these cars don't have visible bump stops on the suspension, that they are internal to the shocks. If they have bump stops would it seem odd that both would disappear since last NCT?

Also, regarding the rear brake light over the back window, this hasn't worked for the last 5 years, although the standard brake lights work fine. It has never failed on this before, have they tightened the rules in the last 2 years? I can get the rear light replaced no problem.

So anyone any ideas on these two issues?

Not sure on the bump stops, but the stop lamp on the rear screen must operate if it is present. Not sure when that came in but it's there for a good few years.

Googled it and seems like there are bump stops on rear suspension.

I have a 2002 C3 and the bump stops needed to be redone. My local dealer did it and it didn't cost much.

yeah the bump stops are separate from the suspension and are easy enough to replace, its rare that a c3 comes in with bump stops not missing.
