Great news. There is a scarcity of ALBs on the west coast.

Great news. There is a scarcity of ALBs on the west coast.

If go back just 25 years or so, there were only three lifeboat stations on the whole west coast. They were Valentia, Galway Bay (now Aran Islands) and Aranmore. It was not unusual for these boats to do 18-24 hours services because of the distances they had to cover, Aran islands did a 48 hour service at least once. There are now 12 lifeboat stations on the west coast, one of the biggest increases in stations on any coast covered by the RNLI in decades. The investment runs into many millions and all done from public donations and run by volunteer crews! Quite something!!
