What do you think the repercussions will be if you do have three godparents?

    Hi op

    Congrats

I've been at christening where there was 4 god parents and have heard of 3 also

So it depends on priest I imagine
If its what you want I can't see why not

Ive always said if i pick my brother as god parent his wife will also be as ive known her all my life,i wudnt feel right picking my brother without his wife. Atm my partners sister looks like she will deffo be god mother. Id be happier with 3 for this baby.

Ive also heard that if you have more than 2 then that 2 are only godparents and the others are sponsers or something not sure, will ask my priest closer to the time.

I think it depends on the priest but apparently only 2 names can go on the baptismal cert.

Why? What's the big deal? Will they actually have any involvement in the spiritual upbringing of your child?

This. Only two (one male/one female ) cab be recorded in the Baptismal Register but you can have any number you like.
Godparents must be 16 and have been confirmed in the Catholic Church.
Congrats on the new arrival :-)
