clan system

    I've always wondered how this worked, I know from old maps that Ireland was divided up into kingdoms like Ulaid and Northern Ui Neill, etc and then even smaller territories within them but was everyone in a specific area closely blood related? If a woman married a man of a different clan/surname as it is now, would she have to change clans?
