    Hi
My partner just received a return of income form for 2012 in the post yesterday. We not sure why he needs to fill this in as only source of income is through his job - PAYE only and all paid through his employer. We dont have another income i.e. through trade, assets, savings or rental income etc.
Why is he being sent this form as i only thought self employed or ppl with non - paye income need to fill it in?

Some forms are sent out randomly each year while others are targeted. Its part of ensuring the paye system is working. If you receive one you must complete it ans return it to Revenue.

you might even find that you are entitled to a rebate if you are lucky. Just cos your employer is handling all you tax/USC/prsi, doesn't mean they are doing it correctly either. employer only works on what information given to him by the tax office however errors can occur between the employee, the employer and Revenue.
