ESD and my new Laptop.

Hey lads, I got a new acer from argos back in November. Since January it has been randomly shutting off. It then won't turn back on and I have to go through the procedure I read about on the internet to remove ESD. This usually works and the computer turns back on, however now it is taking 10 or 11 attempts at this( holding down the power button with the battery out etc...) for the laptop to restart.
I am really worried about this, and have read that it is bad for the laptop. this laptop is the most expensive thing I have ever bought and I feel pretty let down. Can I return it or do anything, it is still recovered by warranty.
I am know writing on a laptop my dad has had for 10 years without any issues...

p.s-could there be any link between having a cd in the cd drive, and the computer shutting off? cheers appreciate it.

I would bring it back to argos as its only 5 months old let them get it sorted for you.I dont think having a cd in the drive has anything to do with it.Also do a little research on the model laptop you have and see if its a common problem.
