Portmarnock or Old Head Kinsale which would you play??? I've some golf nut buddies coming in from overseas for one day. I can direct them to fly into Dublin or Cork and they can only stay and play one day.

    What do you guys think?

I would choose the Old Head - simply because I think it looks more special than Portmarnock (although I'd like that too!)...

    I'm presuming accommodation etc. isn't a factor?

Either way, its a nice problem to have!!

Haven't played Portmarnock but Old Head is a must for every golf player imo.
Tell them to bring the A game.

Portmarnock would be my choice for the golf, Overseas gofers tend to want to play links golf. But for an overall experience of Ireland the combination of The Old Head and Kinsale Town is hard to beat, great golf, food and craic.

Buddy of mine only talking about Portmarnock today, how he loved it as a links course. Hates Tralee but loves Portmarnock:confused:

Old Head for Me, a memorable experience

I haven't played Portmarnock but I would go for the Old Head for this one simply because it is unique. Probably not as good a course in itself, but the setting down there has to be seen to be believed. Jaw dropping stuff really.

Is it a suprise round you plan on bringing them on? If not then maybe ask them which they would prefer. They may have already played one or if not they might have a preference one way or the other. Both are v.good but totally different. Either way it will be win win for them.

Portmarnock is a better course IMO, no question. But if they're just over for one day, I would bring them to Old Head. Truely unique experience, stunning looking and a good course. They'll remember it longer.

Thanks all, they are only here for about 12 hours so no time to really 'experience' Kinsale etc.

I've decided to bring them to Portmarnock on this occasion and if they come back for an overnight stop over I'll suggest the Old Head to them.

    Cheers,

    Ben
