Petrol estate needed

I'm currently driving a Hyundai Tucon 2.0 petrol, that's absolutely killing me on petrol. I'm getting about 21mpg. Putting in about €75 every 10-12 days to fill the tank, but I'm not even getting 400km from a tank.

I'm doing about 10,000 km a year, and it's city driving, with a lot of short journeys (i.e. a lot of 5-10 mins drives), so I'm not looking at diesels at all. I know that this type of driving isn't helping the consumption, but I'm looking at estates as I think that even with city driving it must be possible to do better than 21mpg.

Need the estate for the space reasons, so can't look at hatchbacks, etc, that would be more economical.

    Budget only about €6K-€7K.

Petrol estates under 2.0l are scarce. The best options are both compact estates such as the V50 or Saab 9-3.

    V50:
Have seen mixed reviews about economy, and the styling (with the floating dash thing) seems to be a marmite job (i.e. some people like it, some hate it).

I really like the look of that one, but at that price there's no room for a haggle, and would get less than a pittance on trade in.

GIANT mileage. How much of a concern should that be?

    Saab 9-3:
Had a 2006 saloon and loved it.

White interior is a bit much though....

    Peugeot 407???
I wouldn't be overly taken by it, but could perhaps be swayed....

So, those who are more knowledgeable than I am, what could you suggest?
