To make a long story short , farm insurance up for renewal ,I have public liability my main concern/worry is my muppet of a sister and her husband {who I wouldnt trust as far as I would throw them}..they have a site on the land and would often cross the fields to parents house which is fine by everyone(keeps parents happy) until one of them or their kids falls or breaks a leg. FBD says they are not covered by public liability as they are "family" and to get them named as employees under employer liability at a charge of 200+ extra but I dont think that cover is appropiate either ....................what cover do I need (other than a balaclava!!!)

    liable to sue who? you?

if a sister is liable to sue a brother/sister parent for something happening to him/her or their kids on the land that they grew up on then if thats how good relationships are then you need to sit down, and say, go long way around on road as you are not insured to cross the land if something happens. . .

whats with people, 1, if i was your sister, why the hell would i sue someone if i crossed in to their land , and then twisted my ankle, broke a leg. . ? for what €100 A&E fee?

2, if your sister was to sue you? how? u dont play ball, then shes no option to get solicitor involved, then you dont reply, then courts to get involved, then you kinda get pulled in. . still not paying up. . . all the while the legal fees are now in to 1000s. .

    lol.. .

i dont know should you just print this off and give it to your sister. .

sounds like if something happened her or kids, and she was suing you, it wouldn't be just because of an ankle injury. . must be more to it

i know u said its a long story and probably is. .
but if thats the case. . 4 stands of high tension barbed wire, and inside that but double strand of bullwire and connect it up to a cheta electric fence (mains). . 4 earth rods . .
then put a sign up, no entry, electric fence. .

Mine now not long t/f ...but sisters aside is there any level of cover for the farmer and his family against injury as I can't see any company paying out if a family member called an employee not alone their kids

Try to get along with your family if you can bitterness eats away at you.

But I know that you can insure yourself against injury don't see why you couldn't insure family members.

If the land is your's you should have no problem, your public liability should cover them.
The golden rule for of insurance is that you cannot claim against yourself.
You can only get cover if you get ill or injured and need a replacment.

All the above comes with a health warning.
