Crowns - Nervous

    Hi there,

I'm due to get 2 zirconium crowns on my front middle teeth at the end of this month. I am getting incredibly nervous about this. While the dentist explained everything to me and reassured me that the crowns will be matched to my colour and shape of teeth, I can't help imagining that they will just look completely fake in my mouth. As they are my front middle teeth they will be very noticeable! I am getting so nervous, I'm considering bailing on the idea completely, so I just want some reassurance please.

There is nearly 3 weeks scheduled between the first appointment when I will get the temporary crowns fixed and the next, when the real crowns are attached. I'm in uni at the moment, and these 3 weeks also happen to be very busy weeks in my social life, lots of important events on etc.. How noticeable are the temporary crowns going to be?
Can anybody share some positive experiences of getting crowns done on their front teeth please! Were you happy with the outcome? How did you find the temporary crowns?

Don't be getting nervous, I've had a couple of crowns one on one of my front teeth & the tooth beside it, a good dentist can match it very well so you wouldn't know it was a crown, I was in today getting an impression for a new one cos one of my crowns was in 15 years and came out.

I have one front crown, soon to get a second one, and the match is perfect. I went to the lab on 3 or 4 occasions so they could match the crown exactly.

I'm thoroughly delighted with it and only sorry it took me so long to get around to it.

My dentist eventually gave me a hard plate/guard (??) with a false tooth attached and it was brilliant. I think they cost about €100 to make up but I'd had a couple of disasters with the soft guard with a falsely in it so got it for free. It's definitely worth paying a bit extra for the hard one. You can carry on as normal. The soft one kept coming out mid chewing or got full of food. Neither are good especially if you're out for dinner.

At the moment I have the 2 temporary crowns in place on my front teeth. They are actually quite passable and look better than the teeth they replaced, since one of those teeth had lost colour after the root canal last year.

I am due to get the permanent crowns fitted on Tuesday next, and since yesterday my gum had become inflamed behind one of the temp crowns. If the swelling doesn't go down by Tuesday, would this mean the dentist won't be able to fit the permanent crowns? I know I have a few days, but I'm not sure bonjella is really doing the job!
