    Hi All,

My wife is looking into trading her 2007 Peugeot 207 cc, 1.6 petrol with approx 120,000 km on the clock for a 2010 Nissan Qashqai, 1.5 Dci. I think the particular one she's looking at is a pureDrive model.

Do many people have experience with these cars? How are they when it comes to reliability and real world mpg/running and service costs. She covers approx 700-1000 km per week so petrol is breaking her, hence the move to a diesel. She likes the driving position and extra safety which a qashqai brings.

    What are peoples thoughts?

I had one for 3 years. Fuel wise it was grand in the diesel, averaged 5.2 litres per 100 Km. It's fairly boring to drive, so don't expect anything exciting. It is relatively comfortable and feels fairly solid on the road. It is a bit rolly compared to a normal hatchback/saloon. Also going from a 1.6 petrol on a lighter car to a 1.5 diesel on a heavier car, she will notice it will feel a bit slower.

Over the 3 years of ownership I had one problem, which was a bit odd.

Essentially I started her up and the engine suddenly got extremely loud, compared to normal. Felt I shouldn't drive it, so had it trucked to the nissan garage after a bit of looking to see what the issue was, they realised that the timing belt had jumped a couple of teeth. Luckily no damage done. The garage took apart the block and inspected it. Of course it was out of warranty by 2 weeks, so it took a bit of wrangling with nissan to get it covered under the warranty, considering it had been fully serviced to schedule by nissan over the 3 years, the last of which was only about a month or so before that happened.

My sister bought it off me shortly after when I decided to get something different and has been driving it for a year now and still going spot on.

Rear shocks give trouble on them. Mrs.Milltown's 2010 Qashqai+2 has had two rear shocks replaced so far and there is a familiar knocking noise coming from the back again now. A few other owners I know have had shocks replaced under warranty too.
