    Hi

First post but long time reader. I'm a paddy living just outside north London. Is there any irish runners on here who would recommend a good atheltics club to join in London? Or is there any runners who would be interested in meeting for regular training runs around London with a view to creating an irish running club in London? The GAA clubs are flying over here at the moment and the social aspect of them is very good. It would be great to get an irish based meet going with the emphasis on having a bit of craic as well.

    Thanks

While there are a few UK based athletes here there are not that many. You may have a bit better luck here

Hi i'm a runner living in North London (NW5) but out of action at the moment. I'm a member of London Heathside AC. I highly recommend it, its very sociable and nopt overly serious.

Your idea is good alright, thing is most London Irish runners are already settled in clubs here.

I've just moved to North London (N19) and had been thinking about joining a club. Just looked at that Heathside website and it looks good, something like that Sunday morning session from Highgate station looks ideal. Think I'll send a mail to them for more info, thanks for the heads up Brian (I'd not heard of that club and had been thinking of joining Highgate Harriers!).

    Cheers Brian.
The website looks very good. Just sent them an email there. I am living in St Albans at the moment but hopefully will be moving closer into London later in the year. I am about a 35min 10k 16min 5k at the moment. Have you competed in any of the met league races? When are you hoping to get back training?

No real need to send them a mail. All the info is on the site.

N19, small world. I'm living on the highgate road by Parliament Hill!!!

A good one for a first timer is the Wednesday night session. They meet at the Royal Free Hospital recreation club (C11 bus goes straight there from Archway) for a session in Hampstead Heath at 7pm. Best to show up ard 6:50, Martin usually leads the sessions and will introduce you. I hope to be back there later this year. I'm out with overtraining syndrome at the mo.

After the session they go to the pub across the road for a pint or 2 and its a great way to meet like minded people.

Also the Tuesday night sessions in Finsbury Park are excellent for the serious runner. 7pm again on the track, they meet beside the finish line on the infield. First Tues of the month they head to the pub.

Cant say i ever did the Sunday morning run, 9 or 10am wouldnt be my thing :D

Highgate AC look decent alright, they train on the track in the heath Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 7pm, but i've heard the social aspect isnt quite there with them.
