Videoing a Roadrace - any hints

I have been asked to give someone a hand creating a promotional video for a half marathon. Basically a pretty simple video showing the route. Just wondering if anyone had any idea or experience on doing this on a shoe string. Thinking bike, flip/iphone and then editing to increase the frame rate on iMovie. Particularly wondering about the recording part as 1hr odd bike ride could soak a lot of memory.
    Really appreciate any help.
