Has anybody been lucky enough to pick up one of the new Samsung F7000/F8000 televisions?

According to the specifications, they have DUAL satellite inputs and a single terrestrial input. This allows you to record one channel, while watching another. The UK Samsung web site lists them as also having a full Freesat EPG.

This could be a very interesting television if it proves to be practical when Saorview/Freesat inputs are fed into it.

Power City have them in stock. The minimum size screen is 40” which starts at €1,399.

I can't speak for these models but other Samsung models restrict you to FreeSat only. You can't watch terrestrial if it's using FreeSat, you have to select either FreeSat or terrestrial at any one time. FreeSat don't allow you to pick and mix your channel listings :(

Great looking set, they had one setup in Fonthill road branch. Didn't have satellite feeds going into it, so couldn't check how well it worked.

Sales rep said they have improved considerably from previous version, and that you can record sat and watch terrestrial and vice versa. Would rather see it for real myself though.

To be honest you're probably better off buying a box that can do all of this. More customisability and opportunity to get the EPG looking the way you want it. The software on these TVs are generally locked down also so not much scope for tweaking.

I'm interested in this specifically because no box is required. To be honest, for the main living room TV I would want something that just works - no interest in tweaking, tuning in channels etc.
