Moving Euro cash into USD...what's the best way?

I'm feeling that I would like to move the majority of my family cash reserves out of the Euro and into USD. I'm an Irish Citizen and living in Dublin Apart from holidays and larger purchases (like cars from UK) I've never done anything on this scale before (100k ish) It's not a gambling exercise, I just want I keep my cash…

I've been reading up but there seems to be a maze and difficult to achieve in reality....

Has anyone done this and could advise OR is a physical entity (eg gold) the only true safety net?

Talk to an fx broker, get the best rates possible. Also look at sites like www.xe.com and www.currencyfair.com
