I moved abroad a year ago and enjoy my life in the new country I live. I was very fortunate to get a job straight away and recently I got offered a new job and took it.

It is in the same line of work (cheffing) and up until this job I enjoyed it a lot but heres the catch.

I live with my girlfriend who is currently unemployed. She hasnt had a lot of luck jobhunting so things have been a bit ****. I am very very unhappy in my new job. I work 60-70 hour weeks and dont have time to do anything in my life bar work. The money is good but my boss can be quite tough on me too. Im fairly young and I am really not sure this is what I want.

Yes, I am very fortunate to be employed with the current economic climate but I would like to be happy as well. With my girlfriend being unemployed, I cant leave my job until I find another one. I am in a bit of a **** predicament to be honest so any advice I will gladly take on board. As I said, im only young so I am sure there are plenty of people been in this boat before.

    Cheers

Vicious circle dude as you need cash to pay the bills.

Job hunt outside of work as best you can and see what is available.

Until something comes up not much you can do.

Are there many opportunities available in related fields.

    Hi there,
I am a restaurant owner in the Kildare area for the last 10 years. I can certainly relate to your predicament. I came to the industry having worked abroad for many years as an engineer. I couldn't believe what was expected of some people especially in the hotel sector.

We opened a restaurant in Naas just before christmas and are still looking to get a settled team in the kitchen. We are passionate and work hard but we believe that happy chefs make happy food. Naas is only 25 mins from Dublin.

Would love to chat if you were interested..
