Anyone been to Cancun in August? Hearing from alot of people & travel agents that it is highly unlikely we will experience hurricanes & if there is bad weather it will only rain for short period.

We are looking at the Secrets Maroma Resort going A.I. for maybe 10 nights then 4/5 nights in Vegas. This is coming in at approx €5,500 flights & acc total. It's alot of money we want to make sure we are doing the right thing!

Need to get booking soon..can anyone recommend anywhere else? It's our last chance for luxury holiday so would like to go somewhere different?

Really appreciate any advice I'm at a loss what to do!

I'm doing the same for my honeymoon in January, by all accounts you won't beat the secrets Maroma!

Hi there, I spent two weeks at Secrets Maroma two years ago in November and tbh I don't know if I would advise it for a honeymoon stay. It was very nice but I don't think I would rush back or reccommend it. The crowd there could be very rowdy in the pool during the day due to the AI aspect and trying to drink as much as possible, the food was average and the service was very hit and miss. I know people rave about the beach but I have seen a lot better in many other places.
I don't want to be negative but it is expensive and you only have one honeymoon :o

we looked into mexico for our honeymoon (wedding date end of aug), ended out booking other end of the world (french polynesia/cook islands) .... it wasnt a risk we were willing to take, there is a chance you could be caught in a hurricane, its relatively low...but its still a risk.

if you are willing to take the risk, belize, or any of the carribean islands will also carry the same or a similar risk (its usually sept when the worst of the weather hits).

others options are europe (great weather in southern italy, greece that time of year), africa (safari ... no jet lag as you are travelling south and not east/west), Oz/Nz - its spring there so temps only early 20s (same with cook islands/french polynesia but ...little or no chance of rain...dublin has an average 60mm of rain in sept)

best of luck and congrats on pending nuptials
