Rules Question - hidden red stakes

    Hi All

My question relates to the 10th hole in Castleknock golf club which I played recently. There is a water hazard invisible from the tee box on the left hand side. I played my ball directly at it and only realised there was a water hazard when I got to it. I couldn't find the ball - it was pretty obvious that it went into the hazard but I didn't see it going in and I couldn't say where abouts it went in.

What is the ruling? Do I have to declare the ball lost and return to the tee box or can I take a drop from behind the hazard?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts

    ARGH!

Your ball is lost and you need to go back and re-hit.
If you cant say where it crossed the line of the hazard then you cant be sure, beyond reasonable doubt, that its actually in the hazard so you have lost the ball.

That said, if there is actually no where else the ball could be (I cant remember what the hazard is like there, but if its effectively a lake where there is no where else the ball could be thats outside the hazard) then you can say its in the hazard and you do not need to find it...but if you cannot identify where it crossed the hazard then Im not sure what option you have other than to replay the shot.

If you didnt see it enter the hazard it's a lost ball and a reload unfortunately.

Unless you and your partners are all in agreement it went in but I can't see how yous could if you didnt know the hazard was even there and could t see it.

Surely that'd be considered a major flaw in the course design.

Isn't the 10th the one with club house and car park to the right. You would have had to be aiming at the 11th green to get near water on that hole?
