    Hi there
does any body have first hand experience on how the rehibilation works in canada?
I applied for the IEC this year but was turned down on the grounds of a conviction I had from nearly 11 years ago for passion of a small amount of narcotics. Although I understand why I was refused the cic and iec take convictions seriously and am now going down the route of rehibilation and hopefully will be accepted algoing well.
What are the chances of me getting the iec visa next year? Dose anybody know of anyone that was accepted with this sort of thing? Any info greatly appreciated
    Cheers

In the same boat mate have a DUI ,i have to go on the grounds of getting rehabilitation but i have not got anything done yet because i am trying to basically get away from the agency who i went with to get the visa in the first place they are over charging for the rehabilitation documents and say there is no guarantee off still getting the visa even with rehabilitation. Im reluctant to pay these guys the fee they are trying to charge me.So as now i am trying to get in contact with the CIC and get talking to somebody about the rehabilitation process and given outcomes for people like ourselves who have old convictions stopping us with our visa.

Do u mind me asking what company?? I've been in touch with a crowd called Canada visa specialists been quoted $2000 not sur what to do also I want to do it right but it's an awhful lot of money and not sur if I'd have the head for doing it myself as there are no room for errors with the cic, I tried calling them loads of times aswell but no joy, where u planning on going IEC visa aswell ?? Keep in touch and let me know how u get on bud.

We went with them at the start stay away from them their a bunch of cowboys!they only started stage 1 we had to go and finish stage 2 ourselves they where taking way to long they didn't give a **** really and we forked out €250 each for them.went to the working abroad expo this year met a company there from Canada specialising in visas they have a good rep, so their going to help me with it, it costs $1000 to apply for rehibilation to the canadin gov anyway so their fee is another $1000, I really want to do it right docs reports exc, the Canadian gov are quite strict and come next year hopefully have some good news from cic when visas come out.

Yea that's annoying man I have paid already 350 to them pricks some assholes ah man you learn from mistakes regarding going with these third party cowboys.Did the company say they would guarantee a visa to work just for them because you would be tied down to them.?Thats a lot of money for just the rehabilitation cost and there fee as well why is that may I ask.?

Im act gonna be talking to them tonight their going me a call so I'll have more into on it all, when I looked in rehibilation process with Canadian gov they ask for $950 to be sent along with your application and docs ect, so the other $1000 is the company's fee I know it seems an awful lot but look in a way it's a small price to pay to hopefully be allowed enter Canada and work, won't be long makin that money bk.they did say the app should be no bother but again noting is garanteed so fingers crossed. I'll hopefully know more later when I speck to them I'll keep u posted

Guys I have been involved with the application for IEC visas for a while and know a bit about it.

Firstly, the process with the IEC visas is a complete mess - the Canadian system is not user friendly - we all know that - you can't even get an update or anything on the status of your application.

Even the processing time is totally obscure. I had two applications for 2 brother - exactly the same criteria - one took 4 weeks to process, the other took almost 3 months - no additional requests or anything.

On the rehabilitation, the fees vary depending on the gravity of the offense involved - the rehabilitation fee is generally CAD 200 but could be more and this is at the discretion of the CIC case officer - not set rules.

Kerry1043 Being charged CAD 2000 seems crazy and you still have absolutely no guarantee that the visa will be processed successfully. No visa company can guarantee a visa and if they say they can when then you know you are really dealing with cowboys.

You mentioned that you had to do the second stage of the application yourself. Did you lodge paperwork initially to CIC yourself? The only reason why a company couldn't continue stage 2 for you is because the applicant started the process themselves (and thereby creating a file with CIC) before deciding to pay a visa agency and then there are 2 files created for the same applicant. As you can see, this creates confusion as it is not possible to tell which application was the initial one and which was the new one.

Again, the system is crazy but hopefully CIC will improve the application process for the IEC visas for next year so that there is more clarity on the application status. They have been trying to do this for 3 years now and just made it more and more complicated.

Hope that throws some light on things...

I to be honest now have heard so many different views and stories and its just seems that its gunna cost money and it doesn't even guarantee the money you have spent or could spend is gunna make a difference in getting a visa at the end of it to me at this moment and time just a waste of money and refunds either a bit of scam.
