House Extension after External Insulation?

    Hi,
    Newbie to boards.ie here.

We're thinking of getting external insulation on our house this summer. However, we would eventually (in about 10 years or so) like to extend our bottom floor out into the back garden. We live in a normal sized 3 bed semi. Have been searching and could not find any advice as to weather it would be a good idea to hold off getting the external insulation or not and haven't found anything. External insulation is our only option unfortunately as we only recently did the interior up, so internal insulation is not possible. And our walls are cavity block walls so pumped insulation not possible either. Would it be advisable to hold off and put up with the chill in the house? Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks
