We went to Serbia over easter, to my wife's family's place. Her grandmother lives there. Unfortunately not orthodox easter, but we painted eggs on easter sunday anyhow. Not big on chocolate eggs there. Instead what we did was get various leaves and grass from the garden, and press them against the eggs, held in place with stocking. Then the eggs are hardboiled with onion leaves with dyes them a vivid orange except where the leaves are. The stockings are taken off...

Then there's a game where you have to crush the top of your opponents egg, who ever gets their eggshells squashed has to eat their egg. Some people don't like this too much :)
