What set-up is best for loading turf into trailers from large piles? track machine, rubber tyre digger, or a tractor & front loader......
if possible i,d like to get by with a tractor rather than have another machine sitting idle for most of the year...

Are you loading from the bog? how many loads per day? how many weeks per year, as in is it a lot of turf in one week or spread over months?

I have a lot of bog an thinking of saving some for sale extra income but want to take the work out of it as much as possible......going to cut 40 hoppers this year and have the spread room to ramp that up to 160 hoppers over the next few years if........ (A) i can sell it , and (b) i can see a profit return on time money spent ect, will probably just throw it into long heaps for the time being in a field when saved.....

Round here, wife and kids are usual loader methods..............!

How else will your kids tell their kids about the slavery/burning they got on the bog in their holidays?

if you have a tractor and loader and a good flat trailer or bale trailer buy those 1m3 bags. and fill them in the bog. lift onto trailer and straight into shed. ok the bags are €3 each but with turf you will get €40-55 a bag and there is only about 10-12 feetilizer bags worth of turf in it. Easy got off bog, easy trasported and bigger margin
