Is an Online Degree recognised by employers?

I am currently doing a fetac level 5 course and I hate it. We are learning nothing. Just slaving away writing reports etc.
If first year of third level is no better. I am seriously considering just doing the a+, ccna and doing an internship and entering straight into the workforce.
I will study for my degree in the future via distance learning. But will it hold me back? Or do you think the onine degree would be reconised by employers?
