My self and my girlfiend are both students in receipt of the back to education payment, We will be moving home for the summer and moving into rented accommodation together. when our course ends for summer we will be applying to have out JA reactivated

Im 24 (i turn 25 in the summer) she is 22,so we should both receive €144 in jobseekers allowance.

My question is will living under the one roof effect our payments? is one of us likely to get less just because we are co-inhabiting. is there a combined total a couple can bring in?

Maximum JA you could receive between would be 144 (raising to 188 when you turn 25) plus 124.80. You could have the total divided equally between you. See under 'Rates' here http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/social_welfare/social_welfare_payments/unemployed_people/jobseekers_allowance.html

Ok im not sure im fully following you, so before im 25 I would recieve 144 and she would get 124.80. (Instead of the usual 144) Or we could have them split the combined 271.80 equally and recieve 134.40 each or 156.40 once im on the 188

Yes, Combined max of 312.80 after you are 25 = 156.40 each as you have separate claims in place already

Combined 268.80 while you are 24 = 134.40 each as you have separate claims already.

Eventhough you have separate claims you cannot, as cohabitants, receive more payment than the maximum payable to a claimant and a dependant.
