A lick of paint goes a long way. Regrout the tiles and clean them it will make a big difference

You can't fix everything all at once. Take it one step at a time. Start with your own bedroom.
First have a clear out, then paint it in a nice colour you like that matches the carpet, curtains etc. get yourself a 2nd hand tv and a upc box(extra €5 or €10 a month). Then you'll have your own space and looking fresh.
After that you could get your dad to help you paint the h,s&l some sat or sun.
Regrout and clean the tiles in the bathroom as already suggested.
Within a couple of months you could get through the whole house, doing it in sections.

A lick of paint in the various rooms will do the house and you a world of good.

You dont have to spend a fortune either......as theres allways bargains to be had when it comes to painting and home decor.

You will pick up a 2 pack of plastic dust sheets in Dealz for 1 euro 49 cents.

4 x 5 meters in size...very handy for covering the floors and also furniture.

    Cheap as chips too.:)

Aldi currently have roller and paint brushes on sale for not alot of euros too. They still have lots of various painting stuff from last month on sale at the moment.

Tesco in Clarehall also has 3 pack of Stanley dust sheets ( 3.6 x 3.6 meters ) on sale for 2 euro.....in the clearence section.

B&Q also has a clearence trolley beside the paint section, they regulary sell of tubs and tins of various paints for next to nothing.
This is due to damage to the tins and tubs and labels or be end of stock items.

Hope this goes some way towards helping.:)

May be a bit late to this but IMO decluttering is the single thing that makes the biggest difference to the look and feel of the place. Be ruthless, you need way less stuff than you think and try to get the rest of your family to do the same, or at least keep the common areas streamlined. Keep flat surfaces clear as much as possible and don't overdo the ornaments etc. Plus the less stuff you have, the easier to get access to do jobs like painting.

Paint - white or v pale cream if you have small spaces - and regrouting as suggested will look great. Dont forget the skirtings and the ceilings too.. Also if you have dingy carpets, hire a RugDoctor machine for about e30 for 24 hours from Woodies or similar, they do a great job. Little things can make an impact on the general impression of a space, like keeping lightswitches and doorhandles sparkling clean will stop your room feeling grotty and takes only 10 seconds.

Plus relax a bit - don't let your house stop you inviting friends over. For special occasions, Aldi sell bunches of flowers for e2 or e3 which will give lovely focal point to a room. Or cut a few daffodils from your garden and pop in a vase.

Have a look for free stuff on gumtree and adverts.

I could have built a new shed with the stuff people give away
