I have a '09 Ford Mondeo 1.8 tdci econetic with 68,000kms on it,full service history and one owner ,its in really good condition as I like to look after my cars. I'm after being to a few garages, I'm after looking at a Kia Sportage, Hyundai ix35, Quashquai all 2012 models. I have been offered anywhere between €6k to €8k for the Mondeo which I think is a bit on the low side, I know the dealer has to make a few quid to , but I was hoping for a bit more, would anyone have any idea what it realistically should be worth as a trade in ? Has anyone been in a similar position of late ? Private sale would not be possible at the moment. All advice and suggestions would greatly appreciated .

People on here will only give you opinions, you have a real world trade in value of 6-8k in my opinion. The garage will then advertise it for 10,995 or maybe 11,995.

You can get 2008 TDCi's now for under 8k so the trade values are near correct.

Why not sell it privately for the same price then you will get a better cash deal on the new KIA or whatever new car your buying?

I'd be looking for as close €13,000 off the full retail of the new car as I could get.

Low Tax, reasonable mileage, easy to sell Diesel car should be valued as a trade in at book value - in my opninion. Profit can be made on the new car sale, and they'll turn over the Mondeo pretty damn quick.

We sold (trade) an 08 1.8TD Zetec in Feb, with 212,000km on for not much less than the highest figure the OP has been given. It was fitted with Leather which makes a differnce, but not that massive a difference.

I agree with R.O.R. €6-8k is way too low. Genuine one owner low mileage 2008 Mondeos are making more than that in the trade at the moment.

You should be getting a minimum of 11k trade in off the full retail price of what you are looking to buy. Your car should be worth €12k retail if being sold by a dealer.

Thanks for the replies, most appreciated , yes its a genuine car, 2009 econetic model which has annual tax of €280, its also got nct until Jan 2015. I knew that €8k was well below the mark, I just wanted a second opinion. Thanks again everyone.
