Hi, I own house with my ex girlfriend (boi mortgage in 2 names). I no longer live in the house. she lives there with new family. she had 2 claims in the last 5 years and cant get a quote now - so my half of the house is uninsured. first claim was in joint policy second claim was in her name only. Could I get insurance for the house in my name to protect it even though I do not live in that house ?

    Hi LTG,

    Thanks for your question.

Having a number of claims would not usually prevent a quote being given.

We have checked with RSA - who are the underwirters for BOI Home Insurance.

RSA have advised that a property in joint names would need to have insurance in joint names.

If there is difficulty in getting insurance, please contact the Irish Brokers Association on 01 6613067

    Thanks

    Billy
