In-game player stats?

I know TV stations have in-game stats like possession percentage but I am wondering do they also have real-time in-game players stats for attributes such as tackles, throws, yards covered, etc...?

Of course these player stats are available after an NFL game has finished, but are they available during the game? Are if so -
who compiles them...the teams themselves/TV stations/3rd party companies?
are they accessible to the general public ( either for free or for a price)?

Just about every website who offers the latest NFL scores provides you with almost every stat for each position bar linemen. As for who compiles them probably people hired to do it by the website. NFL.com, ESPN.com, etc etc all do in running stats.

Just to confirm 100%, these are real-time in-game individual player stats you are talking about?

I know a guy who tracked stats for RTE on GAA games.
I imagine it would be done the same, although more extensively for NFL.

They literally put a guys in a room with a monitors and everyone has specific things they need to record.
ie on a passing play guy A records the total yardage, guy B records YAC. It all gets entered into their system as soon as the play has occurred and feeds directly to the tv stations.

    Yup

    NFL.com

    Very nice cheers.
Would those lists be considered comprehensive player stats for a game or are they summaries of the most important stats?
Any idea where one could access a direct feed to those stats (free or paid)?

    comprehensive.

NFl.com is about as comprehensive as you'll get. Hard to know what more stats they could put up.

If you play fantasy football all the stats are updated real time in that as well.

Just log onto NFL.com / ESPN.com / CBS.com - any of the major sports broadcasters would keep track.

While games are in progress, they'll have game trackers. You can click on whatever game you want, and it will give you a text-based play-by-play commentary, updating the stats after each play. It's all automated, so once they input a play, i.e. 3rd-and-5 at NE 34: 12. T.Brady pass complete to 87. R.Gronkowski for 12 yards (tackle made by 24. D. Revis) then the system will do the rest, i.e. add 1 pass attempt, 1 completion and 12 yards to Brady (and also updating his completion %) while also adding 1 reception and 12 yards to Gronkowski, and 1 tackle to Revis. Team Stats will also be updated, with 12 passing yards, 12 total yards and 1 first down added to the Patriots. That's just a random example but that's how it works.

It's all done instantly so the stats you see are live and accurate at that point in the game. What you need it for, I don't know, but if you want to be able to look back at say a game a few weeks ago and see what the stats were in the 13th minute of the 2nd quarter or whatever, that's a little bit trickier and not something I think can be done without some development on your end, i.e. developing a macro to scrape the figures from your browser after each play update.

OK cheers, its great to know these stats are available. Scraping would not really be an option for my particular situation, I wonder are the actual data feeds available.

Ah now I see what you are after. When I worked for an American Sportsbook they ran scrapers on a direct feed. Im sure there is probably a company that does it sportsbooks. Probably contacting the NFL's media office would get you better info than here to be honest. There are scrapers out there for it also but they are run by companies. You can buy software that runs said scrapers.

Stats for ESPN and CBS and others as well as official NFL stats are complied by the Elias Sports Bureau.

That name rings a bell for the websites I used to work for also.

If you play fantasy they are the guys that make stat adjustments mid week if there is a dispute about a TD or whatever. Last season Pittsburgh(I think) had a TD where the receiver fumbled and then recovered and went on to score, I think the WR was awarded the TD but Ben didn't get credit for a TD pass or something like that.

There was something similar with Gronkowski vs the Colts a couple of years back. Gronk initially had 2 TD receptions (or 3, can't remember which) but a day or two later one of them was changed to a running TD as upon review, the pass was actually backwards from Brady.
