If your sure it's that stay away. I'd had similar issues after filling up in clifden. Van took ages to start and sent a plume of white smoke down the street when it did. Filled up at another station and problem solved.

how can you be sure it's a problem due to diesel you bought though?

Tbh it could be any number of things. Maybe getting the car diagnosed properly first before jumping to conclusions might be the best idea imo.

That's why i asked the question in the first place. To see if anyone else had a problem with their car after purchasing diesel in Maxol Celbridge.

you probably should have titled the thread "problem with car after refueling" or something similar then, so as not to name and shame a business un-necessarily.

I had no intention to name and shame a business.
I did just ask the question to get a response.
If no one else had the same problem as me ,that will answer my question.

My oul lad buys his diesel there every few days for as long as i can remember.

No problems that I've heard of yet but if I do hear off any I will keep you posted.
It's not cheap there though so it's not one of the suspects for green diesel anyway.

Did you fill up somewhere else since?

Filled up in Apple Green,Celbridge and the car is improving.
It starts easier and runs smoother.

Got a fill of diesel at maxol around Easter and have had no issues, mostly go there as the Q is not as bad as Apple Green and feck all difference in price.

Someone I know filled up there that weekend with diesel.

Car broke down soon after, tank full of petrol but a receipt for diesel...

Looks like the diesel tank was filled with petrol. I'd get your car checked asap.

Petrol in the Diesel Tank, that's interesting.
I intend to have the car checked out.

I was in a mechanics in Celbridge 2 days ago getting a quote and a man in front of me was comaining about his fuel injectors and damage caused by bad diesal in that garage, apparently they had issues that they themselves will admit too!! you're right about the fuel, think its sorted now though, usuall a very good garage

Was just talking about this the other night. A friend of mine filled his van with diesel from the maxol around the easter hol. He broke down later and returned to the Maxol to inquire about the diesel and was asked "are you the lad that rang earlier about the dirty diesel", meaning he was not the only person who had this problem. so as it turned out the maxol in celbridge is selling dirty diesel and has destroyed so far as ten different cars. My friends van was fixed for €1400 and payed for by the maxol but he wanted lose of earnings and was laughed at. So im telling everybody, AVOID the maxol in Celbridge and if i were you I would go back and demand answers.

Pretty strong stuff. I run a business and live in Celbridge yet never heard this. Did Maxol tell your friend they destroyed 9 other vehicles? What garage fixed your friend's van? Did Maxol admit liability?

Maxol did pay for the damage to his van but I dont know what garage it was. He was told about the other cars by a member of staff.

    So whats the verdict ?

was it actually petrol pumped into the wrong storage tank or was it bad diesel?

I'd say fuel pumped into the wrong tank. From what I recall that station has a set of pumps that are diesel only so it could have been from that one.
Thing is though if they don't, would it not have screwed the petrol engine cars. As in if petrol went into a diesel tank, would diesel not have got into the petrol? That said I've filled up twice there since Easter and have had no problem.

The fact that they paid for the vans/cars to be fixed suggests a maxol distributor feck up. Most dodgy petrol stations wouldn't. And if it was bad diesel on maxols behalf would it not have effected other maxols?

I purchased fuel in another petrol station in celbridge. My engine died two days later.

    Toyota told fuel was contaminated
