Is it normal to taste incense?

Hi All, first post in this forum after taking delivery of my first kit yesterday. Went with recommendations from here and got the Kanger Twist with 900mah Joyetech Ego-C Twist Batteries and the T3 Clearomizers (2.4-2.6ohms).

With that came a selection of 5 wingnuts premium juices. Decided to stick with tobacco for now so got Honey Wood, Virginia Fire Cured, RY-4A, RY-C9 & RY-C10.

However found with both the honey wood and virginia fire cured the after taste was reminiscent of incense, in the case of the honeywood overpoweringly so.

So far with the RY's tried the RY-4A which tasted like burnt plastic and the RY-C9 which although not as bad is still very synthetic.

Could I be doing something wrong? At the moment I'm getting a hit to the chest that's similar to a real cig but the taste of the juices is leaving me feeling a bit sick, actually had to stop with the RY-4A after just a couple of pulls as it really was like the nausea which would follow inhaling burnt plastic.

Any ideas? What I'd like is something reminiscent of Marlboro lights, at the moment just seems very synthetic with mild to strong nausea , not an encouraging start :(

    Cheers

What setting is the twist at? the bottom silver bit changes the voltage from 3.2 to 4.8. Start low and see how it tastes

Edit: none of the liquids will be like marlboro lights in my experience. Some are a lot nicer tho if that's any comfort ;)

I found the honeywood and the virginia fire-cured to have a kindof 'perfume-y' taste, could see why some people might like them, but they weren't for me.

AFAIK, the RY style juices are a blend of tobacco, chocolate and caramel, most RYA/RY4 style juices are based around these flavours in different quantities.

Of all the wingnuts juices you have, I likeds the RY-C10 the best. Try cleaning out one of your kangers, (run under hot water and let it dry out, fresh head if you have one) and fill it with the RY-C10 to see if you prefer that.

You will not find a juice to match the flavour of your favourite burning tobacco, but you will definitaly find a few that you will like if you try a wider range. Try the El Toro range (House of Liquid), Eden(Tobacco & Apple), Puros and Cigarillos are three of the best tasting ones out there imo.

The USA Blend or DK Tab are others ones to try also.

Yeah tried from the lowest up, didn't change the flavour, just the intensity. But yes, it is a comfort to know there's nicer ones out there :)

Cheers Lucutus, only one that I bought that I haven't tried yet so I'll give it a go. Found the exact same with the honeywood and the virginia, far too perfumey for my taste. Will definitely give the others you've suggested a go as well. Was planning on trying the USA mix already as I'd heard it was close(ish) to cigarettes but good to have a few other ones to try as well.

Would you recommend any strengths in particular? I went with 20mg for the samples, wondering now if that was too strong and hence the nausea.

Finally made my initial order off http://www.e-smokeireland.eu. Very fast delivery but after checking they don't have most of what you've recommended. Any other good sites in Ireland that you'd recommend?

    Thanks again :)

    There's a list here: http://www.vapingireland.com/Home/Vendors

Would recommend thebestshop, ezsmoke, bargainvapour, vaporium or vapourpal from personal experience. I've read others here using some of the other sites but have no experience of those myself

I went for the 12mg strengths initially and stuck with it, (was on light mg smokes before), but I do get the odd 20mg or 18mg juices, tend to vape a bit less frequently on those.

ESI have the House of Liquid Juices here and the DK Tab here (use the drop downs for strength and flavour).

cheers for all the help guys. One thing I forgot to ask that may have some bearing on the taste of perfume from a lot of the juices. Just noticed on one of the ranges it advises to take off the caps and steep in a dark place for at least two days prior to using.

Didn't do that with any of them so guessing that may be part of the problem? Ordered the Dekang American mix and going to steep what I already have from tonight so hopefully that will improve.

Again thanks for all the helpful advice :)

ezsmoke sells 'UK Smokes' by T-Juice which rated very high amongst tobacco smokers (a vendor in the UK did a 'blind test' on a number of cigarette smokers to find out which one was the over all most liked) also 1st Choice by EzSmoke is supposed to be very good. I'll be ordering them next.

I tried 'American Blend' recently by Liqua which reminded me a lot of Marlboro lights.

You can swap juices here on boards with other people. All you have to do is put it up on the swap sticky and post your juice out and someone will post you something in return. All us regulars here are very trustworthy and I've never had any issues with this. Good way to try new juices and not waste all your money buying juices you don't like then having nothing to do with them.

I had similar issues at the start - love honeywood now.

Alot of the regulars posted on this thread

I think theres a difference between someone starting out in terms of what they need in terms of eliquid.

I would go with trying hangsen or dekang or liqua

    USA mix
    RY4
    Menthol

when starting out for the first week or so - you just want something not overpowering taste wise that keeps you off the smokes (well that was what I wanted anyways). Kinda still in that pane of existence myself - have tried most of the fancier ones at this stage - however its hard to beat a basic USA mix when your having a coffee !

Been vaping dekang usa mix for 15 months without changing once!! I sh*t you not! Spent a while before that trying out all types of different flavours but settled on usa. The odd time I might stick a bit of vanilla in there for a bit extra sweetness.
Its cheap and cheerful, but when your going through 50ml+ a week the price helps ;-)

yeah theres alot of talk on the forum of the fancier eliquids - however I guess what gets missed is the silent masses who are vaping away happily on the more standard ones.
how do you find hangsen verus dekang usa mix ?

I prefer the 'fancier' ones mostly as none of the tobacco ones I've tried taste anything like a real cig. They're always more ... coffee/stale tobacco/caramel-ish. And vaping other flavours makes it more a vape, than trying to replace a smoke. There's one or two that are nice, still not a match for a ciggie. Like Cigarrillo natural, that's about the closest I've had to a 'smoke'.

I think people like menthols and strong flavours because they give the impression, at least, of a stronger throat hit. I find most menthols do this.

Love my mint choc chip :)

In fairness hangsen can be bought cheaper. I tried it a while back and wasnt pushed, but its like when I smoked, I smoked 1 brand and that was it!
But everyone has different taste, guess thats why theres so many flavours out there, each to their own and all that!

When I started vaping a few weeks back, the Honey Wood was one of my favourites, but tastes change so much in those first few weeks, and now I totally get that 'incense' taste. I've found that I far prefer the dessert type vapes now, nothing like tobacco - so Wingnut's Wibble, Select Chocloate Donut, Select Vanilla Custard, and Apple Pie (the latter from Vaperus) are now my juices of choice. Also I really like Jasmine from Vapourtine - although that IS a bit like incense, it's a lot more subtle than the Honey Wood. My other 'nice' juices are all coffee flavoured - especially Cappuccino from Mirage.

I'm still finding that my tastebuds are changing on an almost daily basis, so what I like today I may not like tomorrow!
