Just had a look at Gowran's card and think there could be some big priced winners who are well handicapped having finally gotten good ground.

I'm taking a chance on First Impressions in the 4.45 in what is a very strong handicap for midweek racing. Mark of 111, both of his wins over hurdles have come on decent going, winning at Limerick over this trip last year comfortably off 107. Has been running on unsuitably heavy ground, but did run well twice, runner up at Fairyhouse in October off this mark and a close up third at the same track in November off 115. His run at Leopardstown last month was quite good, seven lengths off Summer Star in what was a really good handicap over 2 miles. Stepped up today he could go well at 25/1 with Lads

One for me at Southwell. Punching in the next, off a career low mark.

Can't let 4.25 Carlisle Etxalar 5/1 go unbacked at his current price which is much bigger than I was expecting to see. Finally cashed in on his continuously falling handicap mark when scoring comfortably last month over C+D. Has been raised 11lb for that effort but is still well handicapped on old form and now he has got his confidence back up I think he'll take quite a bit of beating.

I'm having a small bet on one of my favourites in the shape of 4.35 Southwell Rosairlie 50/1. Although she hasn't cut much mustard over hurdles this year, she was very progressive on the flat last year over staying trips and I still think she's on a good mark. Her breeding suggests that she has a good chance of handling the fibresand and although this is very much a bet in hope rather than expectation I do think she's overpriced. Only a tiny bet for me though.

And the second horse from Etxalars last win came out and bolted up next time out.

Etxalar given an odd enough ride I thought. Think he would have had a good chance of winning had he not made a mess of 3 out which halted his momentum.

Rosairlie won't be going on the fibresand again based on that! Hopefully handicapper will drop her a few lbs though

Had a small thump on this horse to place at about 9/2 on Betfair.
    Thanks very much.

Some great tips being handed out in here.

Glad you were on. Went off 6.2 for a place, some people really should have a proper look at what they're laying
