Hey, i'm doing 1st general nursing at the moment, this year for the first semester we had 9-4 sometimes to 5 on Mondays and Tuesday and then 9-1 on Wednesdays then had tutorials on either Thursdays or Fridays. For the tutorials though the times vary so it changes from week to week like you could be in for only two hours one week and then 9-3 another week if ya get me and the tutorials are on in the Trinity Center out in St James hospital. then after Christmas we were on placement for 10 weeks then back to lectures were we had basically every Monday off, 9-4/5 on Tuesday and 9-1 on Wednesday and tutorials either Thursday or Friday! hope this helps!

If it's the same as last year it's more of a 3 and a half day week, Monday, Tuesday, 9-1 on Wednesdays and then either Thursday or Friday,it can alternate every week. For placement though depending if you're in Tallaght hospital it's a 3 day week or St.James Hospital it's a 4 day week, although I'm sure if that'll change where tallaght also brings in the 4 day week, so don't hold me to that!:P (General Nursing, other disciplines can and usually are in other hospitals)

    In Short...it's not 5 full days!:P

Unfortunately it is all off campus, the nursing building is on D'Olier Street and tutorials are out in the Trinity Center out in St.James Hospital. The only time you'll be on campus is when using the libraries on campus! It's grand though!

    Hi,
I know this is prob silly to ask but I'm a little unsure of what to get for starting college. Is a4 hardbacks the best to get?

Can't speak for nursing specifically but its hard to go wrong with an A4 spiral notebook

Not in nursing myself but I would imagine you shouldn't get a4 hardbacks. I did law and organised myself as such:
Each subject had a binder with clear plastic sheets in it. The sheets were filled with notes and handwritten notes from each class, in order. I had at any time 6 binders for notes. Then I had another binder which I used everyday. Notes from subjects I intended to study that day went into that binder. Then when I was finished I put the notes back into the original binders.
I also took all the books I thought I would need on the reading list and copied the relevant sections weeks in advance of anyone else. This meant that I was not involved in the scramble for the book or the stress and panic of not having the book.
As long as you are willing to be prepared and organised in college you should do fine.

If the hours in Nursing are anything like Science, it might be better to stay away from loose sheets and folders. I found them a nightmare to keep organised once assignments started in earnest, and it's easier if you're on a bus/train to pull out a notebook rather than a folder because you don't have to worry about losing sheets if the folder gets dropped or turned upside down.

Depends on the lecturer and your own personal preference. Some lecturers, in all departments, have very good slides/notes which are easy enough to take down or print, other lecturers throw a lot of information at you which you are forced to transcribe as quickly as possible and don't like providing slides/lecture notes.
