I was out of the country from the end of January - today. My motor tax was up for renewal during Janauary.

Obviously didn't want to tax the car when I wouldn't be using it. I need to goto gardai to get them to stamp. Just wondering what sort of evidence I need to bring with me? It doesn't say anything on the form.

    Cheers.

no evidence just fill out rf100 form declaring non use and get it stamped at Garda station, simples ,I declare non-use regularly and have done this quite a few times

Youll be fine so long as there is nothing on record to suggest that the car was on the road for the period of the declaration (speeding ticket, toll etc).

    You need an ID.

OK grand. Haven't driven since beginning of Feb, will start this month...

NCT due too... Car started first time after being off for +2 months, I think that's a good sign!

no you don't....you just sign in front of the gard and he stamps and signs to say he witnessed you signing....that's it. Him being a Gard can ask for your ID if he wants, but you don't need to produce ID
