    Hi All,
I'm looking for a decent mechanical keyboard for gaming.
There is a wealth of info online but I can't find which ones use which type of Cherry switch and an easy way to order buy them in ireland.
I was hoping for a Razer BlackWidow Stealth or Q-Pad MX-80 (with Brown switches) but i'm not having any luck.

    I'm ideally looking for:
    Cherry Brown Mechanical Switches
    Blue LED (if possible)
    5+ Macro Keys
Easy to order and post to ireland

http://www.keyboardco.com/keyboard_details.asp?PRODUCT=646 - keyboardco have a good few different models
    http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=KB-009-QP&groupid=702&catid=23&subcat=2107
    http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=KB-013-QP&groupid=702&catid=23&subcat=2107

this seems to have a good few macro keys:
    http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=KB-214-LG&groupid=702&catid=23&subcat=2107

no extra macro keys but red LEDs
    http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=KB-006-QP&groupid=702&catid=23&subcat=2107

I have das keyboard with browns and am very happy with it, but I don't need macro keys. but another one you might consider. I have had a keyboard with LEDs before, but am happier now without them.

The Qpad website features worldwide shipping
    €150 via paypal

Took me a good few weeks to find a supplier for my Qpad, scan.co.uk had the one in Blue LED and blue switches, (I wanted the Green LED but couldnt find it with UK layout and Blue switches)

I have a blue LED MK-80 with Brown switches, ordered from QPad directly, cost €150.

I don't suppose you'd be interested in ordering a Blue one, and we swap? :)

Can't say that I would tbh.
But would you want to sell you one with Brown switches for money to put towards a Blue switch one?
Also how the heck do the Macros work on it if there isn't dedicated keys?
Do you have to use the "F" buttons.... I really wish I could just get the Razer BlackWidow Ultimate Stealth edition - Stealth = Brown switches apparently

Also why are you changing to Blues? Do the Browns get annoying for Typing?
I'm using the sampler kit and can't see myself getting used to the Blacks, maybe the Reds... but the black switches are like pushing a piece of satin :D

I could certainly give you the keyboard and a few Euro if you like (though we should probably move that to PMs or something)

I just prefer the feel of Blues personally, Browns are lovely to type on, and argueably better for gaming, I just personally prefer Blues. It's very close though. I thought I preferred Browns after using both, but it was only after using a Blue keyboard for a few hours that it just barely edged ahead for me.

Also, the MK-80 doesn't have macros. What you want doesn't exist unfortunately. You can take a Corsair K90 which has everything you want, but with Reds, or a Logitech G710+, which has everything but is white LED backlit.

    You paid 150 euro's for a MK-80? I paid less for my MK- 85.

The MK-85 does have macro's though.

Well that's if you buy it with its default switches, it's cheaper. If you buy a Blue MK-80 for example, it's cheaper than all the others, because they only come direct form QPad most of the time. (Overclockers is trying to make a profit as they're charging the same for all of them)

The MK-85 is also red backlit which the OP wasn't looking for, but if he's not set on it, it could be nice alternative. It ships with Red switches by default though.

I reckon I'd be happy enough to sacrifice on the colour of the LEDs if it met the other requirements tbh :pac:
How do the Macros on the 85 work?

It uses software with customizable profiles, programmable keys and macro recording.

Don't mean to drag this off topic but how did you decide on browns? I did a good bit or research around this before and came to the conclusion that it comes down to personal preference whether you go brown, blue, black or whatever. So have you tried a mechanical keyboard before or are you just assuming that browns are best because you want to game?

Anyway, my contribution: If you are tempted to get a Ducky keyboard, there are plenty on this website.

Ducky's don't have macro keys but are supposedly one of the best mechanical keyboards out there.

In the original thread for his build, I linked him to a sampler kit, which he's using to help decide.

Ya see, ordering stuff from Taiwan is just gonna be a pain in every aspect. I was reaaaallllly hoping to get something from ebay or amazon. I got stung for 77 euro customs today so I'm very suspicious.
I would recomend those tester kits though, big help

+1 on the logitech g710+ I'm using it and its nice :) keys aren't loud, Led's are adjustable but only in white, its not huge but not small:cool:.

Dont order it from scan or overclockers or a Uk site as the pound price is higher than the euro (they are both 149.99).

I got mine from komplette for 135, its only 131.95 now, I got free delivery at the time but I think that's gone now or you can collect it from their warehouse, also the logitech site sells it for €149.99 with free shipping, not pounds like uk sites.

I've decided on the MK-85 with Brown Switches. The Programable Macros look very handy for SC2 HotS

Great choice. It was one of the best things I bought last year. I could never go back to a dome switch again.
