I recently bought a 2002 Audi A3 and was hoping to replace the stereo with a bluetooth one (possibly this.. http://www.halfords.ie/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_11101_catalogId_15551_productId_918067_langId_-1_categoryId_212600) However, I was quoted a price of €100 for installation and additional parts on top of the head unit price.

I have looked up a few videos on yourtube and it doesnt seem like the most complicated thing in the world. has anyone installed their own, and have any advice or know what they are trying to charge me for? It was all very vague in the shop.

adittionally if anyone has any advice on where or what to buy in terms of a stereo that would be greatly appreciated too. All i want is something with Bluetooth, a CD player, and a usb port.

    Thanks...

It's not that hard to change a stereo,I'm not familar with the a3 what size is the existing unit?you should be able to get an iso fitting kit for it(e-bay)and it would then just be a case of unpluging the old unit and plugging in the new one, plenty of info should be available on an audi owners forum usually with pics, halfords are just like main dealers you pay a premium for their service regardless of how big the job is,I've changed countless stereo's over the years it really isn't that difficult, use the money you save to spend on a better head unit although the unit in the link is'nt bad for that price.

Any idea how to fit it in an Audi A3 Supergurrier? I have been looking up different ISO adapters all day but have no idea which one i need. I have an audi concert stereo and it doesnt have bose speakers but does have a read sub woofer. Any ideas?

If buying I recommend you get an Alpine. IMO they are of higher quality than any other mainstream brand.

If it's a single din unit you are after then halfords have the Alpine 133bt on sale at the moment for around €119.

Halfords site says you don't need anything anyway

Why would you buy that when for 20 quid more you can get the Alpine stereo that does all of the above ?

Why do you think the alpines are better?

They have far better sound quality than other main stream brands and are built using higher quality components in my experience.

Buy them on ebay, i went in knowing what facia and harness i needed and i think they came to like 30 quid they ended up charging me 50 quid for both and they ordered the wrong facia (told me i was wrong) so now my unit sticks out slightly (grrr)

It's a great stereo it's just annoying that from the side you can almost see the metal underneath (job for another day) morale of the story don't listen to idiots behind a counter who couldn't care less when you have already done the research

It handles 2 mobile phones simultaneously
