Have been renting land for years and now owner is selling.the fences dividing the my land and his are gone, I am willing to fence half with sheep wire as I only have sheep but can he get away with putting up barbed wire for cattle or does he have to fence for sheep as well

Im just assuming here but a person has to have their land boundary stock proof. So that means you got to stop your sheep entering his place and only sheep wire will do that.

And he has to stop his stock entering your place and if that is cattle, fence wire will do.
Any ditch between ye or is it levelled out?

    Stock Proof is the Key!
