The other side of 'timewaster' buyers are sellers who can't be ar*ed selling what they're advertising

This problem reminded me of seeing a car for sale in B&S  years ago, Riley 4/72 - phoned the chap and he said it was buried in the garage and he'd phone me when he got it out, 1 week on I phoned him and he tells me he sold it - he 'forgot' to phone me :mad:

Have a problem at the moment with a scrapyard out in Co Meath, nothing to do with a classic but similar story, has the only one of the model I want the parts off but every time I phone (4 days now ) she says - 'He can't get the boot open':eek: A scrapyard that 'can't get the boot open' - if I wasn't stuck for the parts I'd be telling them where to go :mad:

If its got an electronic boot lock and the key is missing it can sometimes be a problem as the solenoids wont work.

Told them how it works IF they connect a jump pack  How do you lose a key or two - hang it by a bit if wire or stick it in the ignition:rolleyes:

Didn't phone today, just drove out to Dul**k - there's me motor with the boot wide open
Went in to the office, 'Ya didn't phone me to tell me ya got the boot open !'
' Too busy' she says when she stopped gossiping on the phone
'How much for the boot struts?'
    '€40 each' :eek::eek::eek:
'They're only €25 new from the main dealer'
    'That's our price' :D
NEEDED other stuff to 'update' my yoke, so 'negotiated' ( with 'Mrs Paisley' - 'No surrender' ), and pocketed other stuff to 'compensate' while mech was dealing with other customers :D:D ,and got reciept ( which she was reluctant to do also ! )

The mechanic actually told me there 'was no problem' opening boot and it had been open since Friday - lazy b*t*h in the office

All in all thieving b*st*rds out there in Dul**k :mad::mad:

Tho I seem to remember Duffy's in Smithfield and Bolands in Swords being 'take it or leave it' merchants as well

Now Peter Jenkins in Summerhill -different approach altogether, service with a smile:) not a scowl

Says the lad who 'pocketed some compensation' ..............

The "take it or leave it" attitude seems to be common enough among the breakers.
Hard to understand the pricing structure that charges almost full main dealer price for secondhand parts.

Never went to a breaker for my Merc parts - always OTTO or Main dealer. The struts in this case were overpriced but later model taillights were cheaper than 2 alternatives - LED lights from China, or main dealer, but not 50% cheaper that I would have expected

Speaking of the Merc, fitted second waterpump in 18mths, the box said a viscous fan problem could shorten it's life, but new viscous coupling c.€240 v's waterpump at €c100 so I'll take my chances !
