Hi, car battery is dead and I have no blade.

Just the key so I can't open the door to pop the bonnet.

Booked in for dealer to sort out battery issue tomorrow so looking for advice on whether the bonnet can be opened from the outside so I can jump start myself instead of waiting for Volvo assist to tow it.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Use the mechanical key that's in your main key ?

jack it up, support on stands, find starter motor and apply 12v+ to large diameter cable, then earth to engine block, open car.
If you dont fully understand this ask questions here.

    That's called the blade.

I don't have that and had no spare when I bought it.

I was putting off shelling out a few hundred quid for a new key doh!

Thanks. I was hoping there would be a less technical solution.

I'll let volvo assist tow it to the dealer in the morning.

The less technical solution involves nothing more than a large brick.

(might work out cheaper, considering windows get broken all the time)

A replacement programmed key is over €200 from a main dealer and afaik it is a main dealer only job.

A locksmith might be able to get you entry into the car to pop the bonnet though.

Will that work though if the car has double locking assuming your talking about breaking a small side window?

he only needs to open the bonnet, so its gonna be a front drop glass, (that got smashed in the local supermarket).
