    hi ,
Can a security light be operated as follows

PIR will always detect movement whether the wall switch is on/off
    and
a switch will turn it on for a few minutes

i.e.it operates on a constantly live feed and also on a switched feed

I am not an electrician so be gentle....

    thanks,
so do I need a special spotlight ,
Mine (standard type ) has only connections for live ,neutral and earth going into the back of PIR.

most of the 500watt halogen p i r fittings have a 4 way connector block fitted
the extra connector takes the switched live
