    Hi,

I'm just wondering if there is anyone in the Mullingar area who would be interested in becoming a running buddy for weekend runs and maybe some summer evenings? At the moment my mileage isn't huge (I run about 5k at lunch approx 3 times a week with girls from work) but I would like to try and increase this with longer runs at weekends. My problem is I can find running boring and find I push myself more if I'm running with somebody.

    Hi Mandz,

I might be a bit far out for you, but since it wouldn't be a regular thing I'll throw it out there. I run around the Laois area, especially the Slieve Bloom mountains. I'd be doing the same millage as you and looking to gradually build back up to 10k after an injury. I also wouldn't mind traveling toward you a fair bit if you would like to meet anywhere between Mountmellick/Tullamore and Mullingar.

Hey there. I had hoped for someone a bit closer. I'll keep you in mind though :) Thanks for replying. :)

    Hi,

I'm from Mullingar but I work most weekends and my long runs are 20k plus at the moment which may be a bit more than you're looking for just yet.

I do have a few suggestions though.

Contact the Mullingar Harriers in Grange or Midland Tri Club, they both have large memberships of all levels and you should find someone to fit in with.

Maybe see if there is a notice board in Tri and Run on the Lynn Road and put a note there or do similar on their Facebook page.

Other than that, feel free to ask me anything you'd like to know. BTW I'm no elite runner, started couch 2 5k 18 months ago and doing my second half marathon in two weeks.

Sorry, forgot to add, I find podcasts great for company on long runs.

My favourites are WWW.imtalk.me and WWW.marathontalk.com
