Stolen Specialized Crosstrail

    Hi All,

This is just a warning, although I am sure most of you don't need it. A Specialized Crosstrail was stolen from me on Saturday evening. I parked it up outside the Supervalu in Killester, locked it to a handrail using an Abus lock, steel wire type one rather than a U-lock. I spent 10 minutes in the store, when I came back out, my lock was cut and on the ground and the bike was gone. I had a front wheel stolen in the same location previously.

I had a previous bike stolen (my own fault on that occasion) so I usually only park up my bike where I know there are lots of people passing by and only for a short period of time with a decent lock to deter most thieves.

One question, I am keeping an eye on classified sites, does anyone know what the usual disposal method is for this type of theft, markets, bike shops, classifieds, etc.

    Thanks,

    Ender.

    Sorry to hear that Ender.

I would keep an eye on gumtree if I were you.

Also it might be worth while checking out any bike shops that sell second hand bikes that are in the locality or are in your closest not so pleasant area.

Sorry to hear this happened but a cable lock is not a decent lock and as you have learned they can be cut quite easily with bolt cutters.

Report it to the Guards, and keep an eye on Gumtree, Done deal etc..
