My tie keeps twisting

    Hi,

For work I tie my tie with a simple/four in hand knot. I find that often when I get up from my seat the tie is on its edge and I have to re-straighten it around the knot so that it is flat again but it keeps happening over and over again.

Would a tie clip fix the problem?
When I searched boards I read people saying using a tie clip makes you look like a knob.

Should I just try and learn a different knot or am I doing something wrong?

    Thanks.

You could do a full Windsor, that doesn't happen with it, or wear a tie clip, I don't think it makes people look like a knob!

Go full Windsor, it's "fatter" and doesn't slide as much.
Also it looks 100 times better than what most people use.

I looked at clip-on ties a while ago when I saw them cheap in a shop. They were all the wrong length, too short or too long.
I like my tie to point to the centre of my belt buckle (yeah I know, it's an arrow :D)

Be careful of using a full Windsor knot with a non-spread collar or with a thicker tie.
Either makes the knot look too big and a bit silly.

I would agree with ensuring the tip of your tie just reaches your belt buckle, though again some ties don't have the length to do this if you use a full Windsor.

Example of a poor full Windsor

Personally I would advocate a Pratt knot as the best day to day knot. Not too small, not too big and fits with nearly any collar style.
