Hi just wondering does anyone know if you need your tax in date to pass the NCT ? I have mine next week and the tax finishes the day before. Will this make any difference?

No. You don't need valid tax to pass NCT.
However you need valid tax, if you are planning to drive to NCT centre, so only option to stay legal is to have your car towed on the towing truck or arrange tax before you go.

while CiniO is correct, most guards will not bat an eyelid if it's a day out. Tax is not needed for an NCT test.

Do you think they would get involved on the legal side of things?

    Who? The NCT testers?

They won't care. It's not their job. Their job is to test your car. It's the guards who will care about tax and generally they won't care if it's only a day out.

Tommy, the engine light on, is not a fail ..... and don't let any NCT tester tell you different.

Same here, EML is an advisory not a fail. Fail is airbag or abs light

Why does your tax finish in the middle of the month?
