Ok, so I am getting a new pc delivered today or tomorrow. Problem is, it has no OS on it. So I need to buy a full OS.

I've checked around, and found 2 versions of Windows 8...Pro and Standard.

Pro costs €65, Standard costs €130. What I need to know is....is the Windows 8 Pro disk (found here http://www.argos.ie/static/Product/partNumber/9130579/Trail/searchtext%3EWINDOWS+8.htm ) just an upgrade disk or is it the full OS? ie can I install it on to a new HDD with no existing OS on it?

Thanks in advance for any info.

    LOL @ Argos
Do more with Office Home & Student 2013 RT Preview included.

Works exclusively with apps from the Windows Store.

Not compatible with other desktop apps.

If it's not being sold as an upgrade edition, then you should be fine. Though €65 for Pro and €130 for Standard suggests that someone in Argos has fumbled things a bit (as Torqay points out, this is substantiated by their nonsensical information about Windows 8).

Ok, lots of reading later....it seems that the Windows 8 Pro disk is just an upgrade disk and no use to me at all......

The stupid thing about the upgrade discs is that they will install on a blank disc, but you wouldn't have a valid licence because the EULA for upgrade licences requires you to have an existing licence which can be upgraded.

The really stupid thing is they dont label it as an upgrade. Such a simple thing to do, no idea why they would avoid it.

Anyway, managed to pick up a Windows 7 copy, so it all worked out well.
