Thinking of going to Bulgaria with friends but flights are currently coming in at €470. They already have theirs booked a while so were alot cheaper.

Does anyone think they will reduce the price or should I forget about it??

Very minute chance they'll go down, and even if they do it won't be a large drop. When booking to Bulgaria with Aer Lingus you should book in January/February. I've went with them 3 or 4 times now and I always got tickets for less than 250 when flying in June/July/August.

Not a whole lot you can do, unless you want to look into flying from the UK but its not much cheaper to be honest.

Lufthansa fly from Dublin to sofia, have a look at them and then you can grab a bus to Burgas handy enough if you wanted to look down that route.

if you trick about with skyscanner you will get some offers via Charloi or England for less than 200 euros with ryanair + east european carriers to sofia or Bucharest (which is only 250km from burgas apparantly which is the same as Cork to Dublin)

Dont know what part of the country the OP is from but flythomascook out of Belfast is an option can be looked at, they also do seperate prices for outbound and inbound.

Have taken the bus option from Sofia to Burgas a few times, grand job, took the train once too but would def recommend the bus over the train..

Thank for replying everyone! They are actually going for two weeks so I can go the week later for a hundred euro cheaper. But they are a bit worried that it might be dangerous for me to get a taxi from airport to place we are staying!!

it's my experience that they do reduce the price of flights 2 weeks or so before your travel date, depending on how many seats are left on the flight. you could get a really good bargain flight a week before you travel, so don't rule it out just yet!

I'm looking at flights for September and its a tenner off per leg leaving it at a take for aer lingus of 13euro for one leg and 23euro for the other (excluding taxes) which is about as cheap as it gets nowadays.

Aer lingus never waive the taxes so theres a base cost for example of about 80euros on the route that I take before they charge a penny, so you should well know that an Aer Lingus sale will never be as cheap as the taxless flights that Ryanair sometimes offer.
