My bother moved to Oz last year and is coming back at the end of May.

He has 48 weeks PRSI for 2011 and 18 weeks PRSI for 2012

Would he be entitled to JSB on his return? or JSA

Do they look for PRSI contributions prior to 2011?

    Thanks for any help

He'll get JB if he has 39 in 2011.

If his total cons are under 260 (5 years work) he'll get it for 6 months. If he has over 260 cons he'll get JB for 9 months

He has to have a total of 104 "A" contributions paid in order to qualify for jsb. If his only contributions are the ones you have mentioned then he will not qualify for jsb. If this is the case he can apply for jsa which is a means tested payment.

Thanks, no those are his latest records

He worked solidly from 2000 to 2009, i.e 52 PRSI A rate contributions per year, took a year out for 2010, worked 48 weeks in 2011 and 18 in 2012, so in that case it looks like he has full JSB entitlement for 9 months? Am I correct in saying that?

    Yes he should get JSB.

From latest info you have given he should definitely have an entitlement to jsb once he meets the other criteria.

9 months of JSB in these circumstances
His relevant tax year is 2011.
