No problem, will be regarded as a civil partnership. What's new?

Phone the airline and explain the situation.

Once the names are the same, it shouldn't be a problem. The restrictions are there to stop people selling-on tickets, not to punish genuine mistakes.

You (or your brother) might be able to correct the error yourself.

    - Log on the the Aer Lingus website.

    - Go to Manage Booking.

    - Select - Review/update your contact details & re-send itinerary.

Or contact the airline and they'll be happy to change it for you.

In any case I doubt very much there would be a problem but its no harm to put your parents mind at rest all the same.

hmmm, you'd probably pay less for the sex change then Ryanair would for the ammendment on the booking...

loking aside you should be ok but you can never tell 100% with Ryanair.

Its makes no difference, my mother flew to Lanzarote with Aer Lingus last year with Mr down as the title; I think it would be illegal for them to make a issue out of it anyway due to trans-gendered people identifying as a different sex to that they were born as.
