Long runs and fuelling

    Hi All

Looking for some advice from experienced runners about fuelling.

Im currently training for a half marathon and I'm up to 11 miles on the long run which tops out at 14 miles before the taper in process starts.

I noticed today that i was wiped after it,and mile 9 & 10 were torture and were 9 minute miles as opposed to my usual 8 minute miles, mile 11 was 8.15 for some reason.

I hear a lot about fuelling and have read a lot but this terrifies me more than the actual half marathon next month.

    Any advice appreciated.

There is no need for refueling for half marathon distance. If you have eaten properly before hand you will be fine. As regards the long run you need to run this at a pace of 1 min to 1:30 min slower then your race pace to avoid feeling wiped out.

Used to happen me too and I found a simple solution - porridge. Slow burning fuel and stops the hunger pangs.
