Do they give older seized vehicles to the Fire Brigades for RTC training?

It really does Make sense to give these cars to the Gardaí :D Especially since they need cars, vans ect...

Haven't they been doing this for years anyway? I thought CAB were using the drug lords seized cars in the past.It should help them out anyway.

Why, what would normally be done with seized vehicles?

I'm all for using them for the State if they need them. Why not?

I'd say they have kept a handful of seized vehicles in the past?, but I'd bet by reading this article they'll be doing it a lot more often:D ..

Expect a surge in seizures of BMW 7 and x series :)

It has always been an option to retain a seized vehicle for official use, but the latest order makes it easier.

I was in Italy a few years ago and the plain clothes police were using a Maserati, it has all the bells and whistles, black exterior with red leather interior. I was told it was from a pool of impounded/seized cars. Whether true or not it did look impressive.

Massive step in the right direction. They should mark them as seized vehicles like they do in the states.

Well done, been doing that over here for a long time now. We either auction them off or keep the newer ones (less than year old) and they get used by detectives. We did once seize a Ferrarri and the CID lads were salivating over that, but it was sold at auction....buggers!!!! Had a mate in CID and her designated car was a very nice, high end Toyota Camry, she loved it.

they will probably be reregistered with a "D" plate, just like the X5's were.
